For a long time, the United States and China have been trying to build the best computers. It is like a massive race.

The United States and its friends tried to slow China down by saying they would not sell China the best computer parts. They thought that without these special parts, China would not be able to build a winning machine.

But China did not give up. Instead of buying parts from other countries, they decided to make everything themselves.

They built their own computer brains, called central processing units, and they connected millions of them together using their own special wires.

They even built their own software to run the whole machine. The result was LineShine.

Why do countries care so much about having the fastest computer?
