Historic Truce Accord between Colombia and FARC – Deep Analysis

Colombia is a place for notorious hooligans, marijuana suppliers, drug peddlers and miscreants to opt for the rule of Devil. So, the climate in Colombia is easy to feel by going through the articles and press- releases on various incidents of crime, and gun running. However, the conflict between FARC and Colombian government seems to be one of the heinous episodes to destabilize the whole society of this country . Eventually, 50 years old struggle must be ended through the fruitful peace treaty.

Historical Background

The insurgency and political conflict in Colombia began in 1964 or ’66. FARC, communist guerrilla outfit, revolted against the crime, corruption and violence. The government of Colombia encourages hooligans to kidnap women, kill children and do other anti national activities. FARC wants to control the government by electing representatives. FARC was not allowed to enter into the government. Therefore, the tussle continued and FARC was powerful to attack Colombian military force and police to have revenge. This turmoil is also called La Violencia. After the merciless termination of Eliécer Gaitán, rebels went for severe invasion to disturb higher authority of Colombia. FARC ensured that it would fight to have justice for the poor. Women would be given their rights to travel independently. Colombian administration was threatened up by FARC. For 50 years, FARC was struggling to have honor and recognition. However, through the recent historic peace treaty, FARC has been allowed to form the government by getting victory in the election. Ceasefire has brought peace to trillion innocent sweethearts to Colombia. During the civil war and insurgency, about 220000 civilians were either displaced or deported to other nations. Numerous people were killed and houses were completely destructed. Human rights were not given to common people due to the corruption. FARC is a revolutionary party which had the resolution to gain more political status, and equal rights. Colombian government denied the rights of people. Administration in Colombia was not fair as people had to abide by commands of military. The social structure broke and citizens in this country were not confident of staying peacefully in the country. The social security was affected. FARC protested against the state sponsored insurgency and nepotism.

Colombians Fled to Venezuela for Shelter during Insurgency

When Colombians were tortured, raped, and killed by insurgents, many civilians had to leave for another country. They fled to relocate in Venezuela. These immigrants took jobs in oil industry in Venezuela. Though the internal political turmoil in this country was strong, the crude oil sectors were affluent. These oil companies need skilled laborers, and workers. Colombian refugees entered into Venezuela and they got good jobs in different sectors. Maduro is the follower of Chavez in Venezuela. However, the opposition party has established a new forum to dismiss this political leader for ethnic clash, pilferage and corruption in upstream industry. Lopez was given 14 year s long incarceration. The opposition party has won by overpowering Maduro. Still, the entry of Colombian asylum seekers into the territories of Venezuela is increasing. The peace resolution between FARC and the government will surely give rise to a solution to upgrade the bilateral relation with Venezuela. However, Colombian government has slackened t he formalities to issue the residential permits or visas to people of Venezuela. This unexpected flexibility in the issuance of residential visas for Venezuelans is bringing an unmixed threat to Colombians due to the over population. New government in Venezuela must have different diplomatic strategies to remove the crisis in this connection.

Ceasefire Accord Was Signed in Havana

Ceasefire negotiation was done in Havana. Juan Manuel Santos, Colombian President, met Rodrigo, the FARC commander-in-chief for signing up the truce agreement. This ceasefire conference was brightened up with the participation of Venezuelan president, foreign minister of Norway and Ban Ki- Moon, the UN Secretary General. Media associates and journalists were also found to record this important event. Colombian president opted for plebiscite to amend the constitution for FARC representatives. This new constitutional power will help FARC members to control administration in Colombia.

Conclusion

Downtown Bogota in Colombia was sparkled in flashes of cameras and streets were painted in multiple hues. After several decades, FARC rebels have found relief from violence. They are fatigued but determined to get back legal rights to live equally with others. Their camps are illuminated and they are entertained with flavorful fruits, and spicy food. Oldies who watched the horror in 1980, 90 and 2013 were moved to tears in delight. They didn’t find any word to congratulate the brave rebels. In Havana, the peace treaty was finalized and supported by FARC and government of Colombia. FARC will be completely disarmed within 180 days of the truce accord. Colombia will introduce new projects to develop the society. It will be a great homework for Colombians to reconstruct the country on truthfulness, honesty, and fairness.
